The “Himeji Attractions Market” will be held over four days—February 7 (Sat) and 8 (Sun), and March 7 (Sat) and 8 (Sun)—at Otemae Park, located just a short walk from Himeji Castle.
The event brings together approximately 40 local businesses and first-year students from Kotogaoka High School(Kotton), which is scheduled to close in 2028 due to high school restructuring.
Working side by side, they present a wide range of products—from gourmet food to handcrafted items—highlighting the many attractions of Himeji.

Under the theme “Sharing Himeji’s Charm with Japan and the World,” the market features original products developed from students’ ideas.
Highlights include items made using Himeji’s renowned leather industry, pizza bread co-created by students and a popular local sandwich shop, and freshly made dorayaki developed in collaboration with a long-established Japanese confectionery.
Each product reflects careful planning and strong local pride, offering visitors a chance to experience Himeji’s creativity and vitality through shopping.

In addition, the venue hosts hands-on workshops such as firework ball making and ikebana flower arrangement, providing opportunities to experience traditional Japanese culture. These activities are designed to be enjoyed by visitors of all ages.
This event has been planned over approximately ten months by Kotogaoka High School’s current first-year students—the school’s final generation before its closure. It stands as a heartfelt expression of their connection to their school and community. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover new and unexpected sides of Himeji!
